Why Meal Plan? The Benefits

  • Meal planning simplifies your life and saves time. It eliminates the daily question of “what’s for dinner?” and reduces stress during busy weeknights. Having a plan allows you to execute, making the evenings much smoother. Posting the meal plan in a visible spot, like the refrigerator, can involve the whole family.
  • Meal planning saves money. By planning your meals and buying only the necessary ingredients from the grocery store, you significantly reduce the chance of impulse purchases and food waste. This also leads to fewer meals eaten out, which can result in considerable savings.
  • Meal planning promotes healthier eating habits. Planning meals in advance allows you to consciously incorporate healthy ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, and grains into your diet. Cooking at home also provides more control over the ingredients, promoting a healthier lifestyle compared to dining out.

What Makes Our Meal Plans Stand Out?

We understand that there are numerous meal plan options available, both free and paid. So, why choose ours? Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Designed for busy schedules. Our primary goal is to make these meal plans practical and realistic. We don’t just randomly select recipes and provide a long, complicated grocery list. We consider how meals work together and how to save you valuable time. For example, you might prepare a larger quantity of food on one day (with the same effort), and the extra food – no need to call them leftovers! – is used in another meal the following day. It’s like getting two meals in one!
  • Balanced Meal Options. The recipes on our site are generally easy to prepare, although some naturally have more complex ingredient lists than others. We balance these recipes with simpler options that feature shorter ingredient lists. We often include a meatless recipe on Mondays, too.
  • Fun Fridays! Every Friday, we make meal prep easier with fun, quick-to-prepare meals. Think tacos, pizza, or other kid-friendly recipes that use store-bought shortcuts.
  • Organized Grocery Lists. Our grocery lists are categorized for easy shopping and indicate which day each ingredient is needed. This feature is especially useful if you won’t be eating at home on a particular day. You can easily remove those items from your list without reviewing each recipe.
  • Meal Prep and Make-Ahead Ideas. Many of our recipes provide ideas for getting a head start on meal preparation. Preparing some ingredients in advance, perhaps on the weekend, can make a huge difference during the week!

What to Expect

We release a new meal plan every week (on Thursdays) to give you plenty of time to plan, prepare, and shop. We’re also expanding our offerings to include seasonal and specialty meal plans (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, etc.) in the future.

Every meal plan remains available after its initial release, so you can always revisit your favorites!

How to Use Our Meal Plans: A Step-by-Step Guide

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Print the meal plan and grocery list.
  2. Visit each recipe link and print the recipes. Use the “jump to recipe” button at the top of the post if you prefer, or read through the post for additional information. Many posts include tips to customize the recipes. If you plan to make changes, remember to update your grocery list.
  3. Review your grocery list, and cross off any ingredients you already have or those needed for recipes you won’t be making.
  4. Head to the grocery store to get your supplies. You’ll find that grocery shopping is much less stressful and more efficient when you have a well-organized list.
  5. Cook and enjoy! We love seeing your creations on social media, so don’t forget to share when you make one of our recipes. We also greatly appreciate comments and recipe reviews. Feel free to ask questions – we’re here to help!
