Straightforward Brownie Waffles
We almost feel bad posting this recipe because it’s barely a recipe, but it’s a brownie waffle! If you haven’t tried this, you must. No shame in our game, we use a brownie mix from a box, and we'd say that Ghirardelli brownies are a standby around. Every time we make them for anything, we get a compliment on our rich brownies.
Making brownie waffles is as straightforward as whipping up the brownie mix (add in an extra egg!) and throw the batter in the waffle maker! In three minutes, you’re dining on the reliable brownie waffle: soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.
The hardest part is trying to decide how to top it! Whipped cream, sprinkles, strawberries, hot fudge, caramel sauce, ice cream, or all of the above?
- Yield: 6
- Prep: 3 minutes
- Cook: 3 minutes
- Total: 6 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 box (20 ounces) brownie mix (we use Ghirardhelli Triple Chocolate for this recipe)
- ⅓ cup water
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs (the mix calls for 1 egg but for the waffles, we add an extra egg)
- desired toppings
Method
- Whisk together eggs, water, and oil until combined. Add brownie mix and mix until just combined.
- Pour into preheated waffle maker and bake for 3 minutes, or as directed on your waffle maker. Try not to undercook the waffles. Do not open until the waffle maker stops steaming.
- Remove and enjoy topped with fruit, whipped cream, or ice cream. Hot fudge would be good too! And sprinkles are always a good decision.
Notes
Yield: Makes about 3 large Belgian waffles, serves 6 (½ large waffle each).
Nutrition note: Nutrition will vary greatly based on what brownie mix you use. Toppings not included in nutritional estimate.
